The USA is filled with amazing locations to get out and ride with spectacular vistas and exciting terrain. 

This list will cover some of Americas best places for mountain biking. From deserts to forests, these are the greatest spots for any adventure seekers or adrenaline junkies!



1. Sedona, Arizona

One of the great mountain biking hotspots in the American Southwest, Sedona offers trails for all skill levels from beginner to advanced. Each route takes you through astounding scenery and most offer year-round riding to enjoy. 


Some great trails to get you started include the Aerie to Cockscomb Loop, a 6.1 mile route for intermediates that is a good combination of rolling hills, descents, and incredible scenery. The Chuckwagon Trail is another fantastic route that provides a bit of solitude while you bike out into the canyon.

2. Crested Butte, Colorado

Enjoy hundreds of miles of beautiful high-alpine trails in one of the birthplaces of the mountain bike sport. Check out the stunning Colorado vistas as you test your skills on over 750 miles of varied terrain for all levels of expertise. 

One of the top rated routes to explore is the Colorado Trail, a singletrack pathway with incredible views and challenging elevation gains. Bear Creek is also a great trail that suites beginners with its smooth, rolling path and gradual climb throughout. 


3. Ocala, Florida 

While this state may not seem like it holds a hidden gem for mountain biking, Santos Mountain Bike Park in Ocala offers a unique location to hit the trails. Built in a former limestone quarry, the park has almost 1,000 feet in elevation change which offers a variety of terrain conditions to enjoy. 


There are over 85 miles of trails to explore with ramps and corkscrews that appeal to all levels of mountain biking expertise. The park also has a nearby campground that lets you leave your tent and be out on the trail in minutes. 


4. Brevard, North Carolina

Once the best kept secret of mountain biking, Brevard has blossomed into a premiere destinations that attracts enthusiasts from all over the world. With over 200 miles of trails to explore, there’s a wide range of terrain and conditions that offer some beautiful backcountry scenery.    


The area consists of two main trail systems, Pisgah State Forest and DuPoint State Recreational Forest. Both have their own unique features with Pisgah offering climbs, boulders, and descents while DuPoint contains shorter climbs, rolling hills, and a less difficult trail system.

5. Moab, Utah

Perhaps one of the best known spots for the sport, Moab does not only contain some of the best trails in the world, but they continue to expand them every year. It’s the oldest mountain biking destination dating back to the early 1980s, allowing you to ride both the new trials and the original classics. 


Moab contains some unique slickrock terrain that’s coupled with beautiful desert scenery. There are so many trails to choose from including the popular Navajo Rocks, the classic Slickrock, and the famous Whole Enchilada
